Frans grew up in Holland a child of a large family, he spent his early youth catching sticklebacks and chasing around on bikes by the beach, which he scoured for treasure. He trained as an art teacher and then specialized in photography and printmaking. In 1979 he moved to London where he worked as a commercial screen printer pursuing his own print making interests by night. In 1982 he was elected an associate of the Royal Society of Printmakers and in 1987 he was elected a full member. Frans has received prizes internationally for his printwork . Frans? work is often concerned with people and has a strong narrative content. In 2000 he took these stories into the media of stained glass and was very soon recognised for his work. In 2005 he was offered a bursary under the Leonardo da Vinci scheme to study stained glass in France. Most recently he has designed ?Godiva Awakes? for an Olympic arts project in Coventry.
