Born in Oslo, Norway,Toril Brancher came to Abergavenny, South Wales in 1989. By then she had lived inYokohama, Japan as well as Cupertino, California and Bristol, England. After gaining a first in Documentary Photography at University of Wales Newport, she went on to study for an MFA also in documentary photography. Early work focused on teenage life in South Wales. Good Night was a solo exhibition at Ffotogallery in Cardiff, before forming parts of group shows in Sydney and London. Currently Brancher is artist in residence with the LandmarkTrust at Llwyn Celyn in the Llanthony Valley, South Wales, where the focus is purely on plants and memory.
