Geoff has exhibited and curated widely: the Gordon Hepworth Gallery (London and Exeter), The Open Eye Gallery (Edinburgh), New Millennium Gallery (St Ives) amongst others. He was the winner in 2018 of the Woodhorn Open. The box works shown here trap echoes of memory and atmosphere of the coast from where all the materials are gathered. Like a page from a diary each piece sums up a place or time or feeling. Small and analogous fragments within the box suggest the notion of a reliquary, which is further enhanced by the use of glass as a means of protecting and focusing on certain elements. The small size of the work is largely dictated by the found materials but also from a wish to involve the onlooker in close scrutiny.
